Gear review: Rab Torque Mountain Pants

The best fishing pants. Ever. You might refer to them as mountain pants, hiking pants, travel pants, quick-dries, but in my world, they’re known as fishing pants. Quality mountain/fishing pants were one of the first victims of fast fashion. Mass produced, low quality are now the norm. Zippers have been replaced by cheap velcro, they’re uncomfortable, and worst of all, the paper-like fabric is see-through when wet! It’s not a good look.

Rab’s Torque Mountain pants are an improved version of the old-school high-quality fishing pants. They are extremely durable – I even hunt in mine. They dry fast, have quality zippers and are comfortable enough for long multi-day hikes, wet or dry and they do not hold odor, even after a week of fishing. It’s like magic. The legs fit just over your boots, keeping those asshole sandflies out. And best of all, when they get wet they are still socially acceptable. No more diving behind bushes to hide my vitals. – NZ

RATING: Five out of Five Fishing Flies!
